Natural Rubber

Research in our lab focuses on the genetic improvement of Rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis) for the sustainable supply of high quality natural rubber. We use Genomics, Transcriptomics, Genetic engineering and Tissue culture tools.

The major themes are:

1. Identification of genes, pathways and regulatory networks which control different traits in Hevea brasiliensis.
2. Genetic transformation studies in Hevea brasiliensis.
3. Micropropagation of Hevea brasiliensis.
4. Identification of endophytes in Hevea brasiliensis and explorations on their potentials.
